STANLEY McGILL
Peacefully, on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, Stanley McGill passed away at the Calvary Place Personal Care Home.
Stanley will be missed by his wife, June; three sons, Dale (Diane), Dwight, and Marvin (Marlene), and daughter-in-law, Joanne; as well as two grandchildren, Christine (Neal) and Michael (Terri-Lynn).
He also is survived by three sisters, Edie (Don), Ruth, and Adeline (Percy); many nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as brothers-in-law, Art Leeson and Eric Evans; and sisters-in-law, Gwen Barker and Janice Andrews (James).
He was predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Amy of the Riding Hill area near Gallivan, Sask.; sisters, Gerti (Reg), Eva (Eddy), Vivian, and Elaine; mother- and father-in-law, Eileen and Percy Barker; and brother-in-law, Harvey Barker of Devlin, Ont.
Stanley was born May 7, 1917 on the family farm—the only boy in a family of eight. He attended the Riding Hill School.
In the 1940s, he moved to Fort Frances, Ont. to find employment. In 1948, he was united in marriage to June Barker from the Box Alder area.
In 1968, he moved his family to Winnipeg, Man., where he was able to fulfill his dream of being a long-distance truck driver.
The family would like to thank the staff at Calvary Place Personal Care Home for their excellent care and compassion.
A memorial service was held Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Glen Eden Funeral Home, with Elder Delbert Barker presiding.
