STANLEY COLTHARD BROWN

November 25, 1930 – November 15, 2006
It is with great sorrow that our family
announces the passing of our
Father and Grandfather, Stanley Brown.
After a short, but very courageous battle with cancer, Stan passed away on
Wednesday, November 15th, 2006 at La Verendrye Hospital.
Stan was born on November 25, 1930 to Walter and Violet Brown. He lived in Fort Frances his entire life. He retired
in 1990 after 40 years of dedicated service with Ontario Hydro and enjoyed his retirement to the fullest.
Stan’s greatest love in life was his children, grandchildren, Browns’ Acre at Reef Point and gardening. He also loved
fishing with his grandsons.
In 1955 he was united in marriage to the late Doris Brown. Together they raised three children Shelly (Bruce) Armstrong,
Cindy (Murray) Cawston, and Marc (Shannon) Brown. Stan was adored and will be missed by his grandchildren
Joshua and Jolie Armstrong, Cody and Carter Brown.
Stan is survived by his brothers; Doug (Edie) Brown, Leo (Alice) Brown; sisters Myrtle Armstrong, Shirley Brown,
Wylma (Ron) Redford, Betty (Jack) Toews and half sister-in-law Evelyn Brown.
He was predeased by his wife, Doris, brother Alvin Brown and half brothers Lonnie Brown, Clarence Brown and
Charlie Brown, and stepsisters, Vivan Freudenburger and Toots McConnell.
There will not be a memorial service, at Stan’s request, his children will have a private service.
We would like to express heartfelt thanks to our friends, family and co-workers at Gillons’ Insurance for taking
time to send meals, kind thoughts, prayers and phone calls during our difficult time. We are deeply touched by your
thoughtfulness and support over the past eleven weeks. A very special thank you to Doctor Nelson, the nurses on St.
Andrews Ward, Comcare and Mary Martinson for your care and compassion during Stan’s illness.
If friends so wish, donations can be made to Riverside Health Care Facility for the CT Scanner.
May the winds of love blow softly, and whisper so you can hear.
We’ll forever love and miss you, and wish that you were here.
For all that life has given us, and all that’s left to do.
We’ll know no greater treasure, than the days we had with you.
When a loved one becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.
We love you Dad.
