It is with great sadness that the family of Steve Tkachyk announce he passed away at the Riverside Health Care Facility in Fort Frances, Ont. on Wednesday, March 19, 2003.
Steve was born Jan. 8, 1930 in Tolstoi, Man. to Alec and Mary Tkachyk. Steve was the ninth of 14 siblings.
Steve married Irene Badiuk on July 17, 1954. They built and resided at 837 Minnie Ave. in Fort Frances.
Steve worked in many areas of forestry, logging, and construction. He ended his employment working for George Armstrong Construction in 1985.
Once he completed work, Steve enjoyed spending time at his cabin at Big Sawbill Lake. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and being in the bush blueberry and mushroom picking.
Steve was predeceased by his parents, Alec and Mary Tkachyk; brothers, John, Mike, and Morris Tkachyk; and sisters, Ann Matichuk and Pauline Balbon.
Steve is survived by his wife of 49 years, Irene Tkachyk; son, Bill Tkachyk and Yvonne Noonan of Fort Frances, Ont.; daughter, Kathy and David Robb of Kenora, Ont.; sons, John and Michael Tkachyk of Fort Frances, Ont.; and daughter, Ann Tkachyk and Robyn Judson of Dryden, Ont.
Steve also will be sadly missed by his five grandchildren, Dustin and Tyson Tkachyk, Tyler and Tara Robb, and Taylor Judson.
A visitation will be held Sunday, March 23, 2003 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Parish prayers will be offered at 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 24, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Very Rev. Fr. Jarsolaw Buciora will officiate, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
