Sophie Annette Noga, 85, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1997.
She was born Sept. 3, 1912 in Poland to the late Harry and Anastasia Kaproska. Sophie came to Canada in 1928 and settled in Manitoba. On Jan. 30, 1930, she was united in marriage to Jacob Noga.
During the 1950s, she moved to Atikokan, Ont., where they resided until moving to Dryden in 1985. In 1993, Sophie moved to Fort Frances, where she has resided since.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jacob Noga, on March 14, 1964. She also was predeceased by one sister in Poland; one brother, Steve; and one grandson, Jimmy.
Sophie is survived by her two daughters, Nellie West of Camrose, Alta., and Lucy and husband, Dan Legros, of Dryden, Ont.; two sons, Roy, and wife, Donna, of Rainy River, Ont., and Eddy and wife, Joan, of Cleveland, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 12, 1997 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Father Brian Primeau O.M.I. will officiate, with interment in Atikokan Cemetery in Atikokan.
Friends may visit Thursday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home, with parish prayers offered at 7:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
