Kabatay, Simon

It is with great sadness that the family of Simon Kabatay announces his sudden passing on Monday, March 16, 2020 at the LaVerendrye Hospital.
Simon was born on April 27, 1993 in Winnipeg, MB to Bryan Kabatay and Lila Blackjack.
He lived in Seine River First Nation most of his life. He enjoyed BBQs and sitting around the summer fires with his family and close friends. He was looking forward to his fifth summer working with Pipestone Lodge as a guide. He was well known for helping out wherever he was needed at work and in general.
He enjoyed riding his dune buggy, flying his drone, gaming with his brothers and friends and spending time at the lake.
He was an easy going guy and loved being in nature any chance he got. He always looked forward to trips to town to visit his best friends Mike and Tori Dubois and their son Asher.
He leaves behind his parents Bryan and Lila; brothers Dominic Blackjack, Travis (Chelsey) Blackjack and their children Kalistah, Travis Jr. and Lillith; sister Twila Kabatay; aunts and uncles Linda (Raymond) Goodchild, Karen J. Kabatay, Cheryl (Kelly) Riley, Ava Kabatay, Michelle Kabatay, Tyrone Tenniscoe and Susie Langille, Patrick Kabatay, Stephanie Blackjack, Hanna Blackjack (Frank Milwaski), Rodney Edward Ryodell and Bill Allen Ferderber as well as numerous cousins and a large extended family.
He was predeceased by his sisters Melanie Blackjack and Alanna Kabatay; his brother Derek Blackjack; grandparents Leonard Whitecrow, Elsie Blackjack, Russell Tenniscoe and Lucy Kabatay; aunt Tanya Blackjack and uncles Johnny, Ronnie and Leo Whitecrow.
A traditional wake will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 3 p.m. at the Seine River First Nation Gymnasium.
A traditional funeral will be held on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Seine River First Nation Gymnasium.
Elder Andrew Johnson will officiate and Interment will take place in the Seine River First Nation Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Travis Blackjack, Dominic Blackjack, Mike Dubois, Phillip Ottertail, Fred Ottertail, Curtis Copenace, William Goodwin, Dorian Whitecrow, Todd Morrison, Darcy Whitecrow, Benjamin Langille
