Shirley Mae Brown (nee Breckon) passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005 at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Shirley was born in Fort Frances, Ont., the youngest daughter of Gordon and Inez Breckon.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Alvin Leslie Brown; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Grace Cyr; sister, Doreen Geary; and brothers-in-law, William Makarenko and Jim Witherspoon.
Shirley is survived by her children and grandchildren, Donna Mae Brown-Hebert (Vanessa and Angela) of Ottawa, Ont., Debbie Lyne Brown (Brandi and William) of Medicine Hat, Alta., Darlene Grace (Pat) Desorcy and Jennifer, and Douglas Gordon Brown (Carol) and children, Jackson and Sarah, of Kenora, Ont., and Darcy Jane Rudolph (Leslie and Jenna) of Fort Frances, Ont.
She also is survived by her sister, Lois Makarenko-Witherspoon; uncles and aunts, Bud and Mabel Cyr, and Jean Hoffman; brother-in-law, Earl Geary; and in-laws, Leo Brown (Alice), Douglas Brown (Edie), Stanley Brown, Wilma Redford (Ron), and Shirley Brown, all of Fort Frances, Ont.
Shirley received her education at Robert Moore School and Fort Frances High School. She was a graduate of the Hairdressing School of Beauty in Winnipeg, Man.
Upon her completion, Shirley was employed for a number of years at the “Denisalon” in Fort Frances under the ownership of the late Dennis Watt, who remained a dedicated friend throughout the years.
Shirley was a confirmed member of Knox United Church in Fort Frances.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Mr. Jack Cameron will officiate, with graveside prayers and interment beside her late husband, Alvin, in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Pallbearers will be Leslie Rudolph, Art Rudolph, Ryan Flamand, Joshua Flamand, and Harvey Flamand.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Rainycrest for making Shirley’s last days peaceful.
