She was the loving wife of James E. Sether of International Falls; mom of Tony and Lisa; and super grandmother of Amy, Nicholas, and James.
She was born Jan. 16, 1945 in Emo, Ont. to Peter and Frances Naturkach. On June 26, 1964, Shirley was united in marriage to James “Jim” Sether. Following their marriage, Shirley and Jim lived in Fort Frances a short while before moving to the United States the following year. Shirley worked at the International Falls Daily Journal for many years.
Shirley loved gardening and flowers. Her generous spirit and love of life allowed her to be especially close with her family and friends, as they could always rely on her. Shirley loved celebrations and her laughter always highlighted the gatherings, making her the life of the party! Shirley kept us all in stitches with her fun-loving antics and jovial personality!
She loved travelling in her white Lincoln Towncar “Seth-2” while listening to country music. Shirley also was a closet Nintendo player! She collected fanciful wristwatches and whimsical socks, entertaining us with her latest find. There was never anything dull about Shirley’s wardrobe!
She was predeceased by her father, Peter Naturkach, on Jan. 12, 1994.
She leaves to mourn her passing her mother, Frances Naturkach of Fort Frances, Ont.; husband, James “Jim” Sether; son, Tony (Wendy) and his son, Nick; and daughter, Lisa (Dave Hanson) and their children, Amy and James, all of International Falls, Mn.; brothers and sisters, Irene (Ken) Harrison, Mary (Jack) Ducharme and their families, Vicky (Dave) Gillon and their sons, William (Heidi) Naturkach and their daughters, all of Fort Frances, John (Naomi) Naturkach and their son, of Kenora, and Gary (Paulette) Naturkach and family of Edmonton, Alta.; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
