The family of Sheldon Kelly Sr. are saddened to announce his sudden passing on September 8, 2021 in Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation.

He was born on March 7, 1980 in Emo, Ontario to Yvonne Kelly and Donney Leonard Spruce; and was proudly raised by his grandparents John Jim and Mary Catherine.

Sheldon grew up in Ojibways of Onigaming and Fort Frances. Sheldon was well known for his athleticism in the area; he thrived to be the best at any sport he tried whether it was fastball, golf, curling or hockey. He had a passion for sports.

He is survived by his mother Yvonne; brother Jessie Kelly; aunties Thelma (Derek), Betty (Duane), Leslie; and uncle Jimmy (Virginia); and his children Sheldon Jr and Samantha; and their mother Sarah. There are also numerous cousins, too many to mention.

He was predeceased by his grandparents John Jim and Mary Catherine Kelly, Maggie and Jim Spruce Sr.; his father Donney Leonard; and numerous other family members.

Services were held in Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation at the school gymnasium; wake began Sunday at 3 p.m. and funeral followed on Monday, September 13, 2021.

Pallbearers were Andrew Easton, Moddy Kelly, Kevin Copenace, Gary Skead, Roger Allen, Shaun Indian, Ernie Cobiness Sr and Ernie Cobiness Jr.

Per the family’s wishes the honorary pallbearers are all of his old team mates from all the fastball he played over the years; Emo Bulldogs, Beef’s Warriors, Couchiching Raiders and Sabaskong Cubs.
