SHELAH PATRICIA BUSCH

September 23, 1931 – October 15, 2025

The family of Pat Busch are saddened to announce her peaceful passing at St. Joseph’s Hospice, in Thunder Bay, October 15, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born in Carman, Manitoba, to Malcolm and Florence Smith. Her family moved to Brantford, Ontario, where she grew up with eleven siblings. As a young women she played baseball and enjoyed rollerskating, dancing and a good singsong. She worked in the factories and in 1949 married Wayne Busch Sr. They moved to a farm south of Devlin in 1960, raising their six children, and the city girl learned how to be a country girl. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and teaching Sunday School for many years. They kept their beloved farmland but moved back to Brantford for Wayne’s trucking job for several years. As a middle age project they bought the Off Lake Inn and operated that. Pat was chief cook and operator and adapted as she did to most things in life, learning new things and working hard. After retirement they returned to their hobby farm in Devlin. Pat was always busy gardening, knitting and every day a new project on the go. After Wayne passed, she moved to a senior’s apartment in Emo, enjoying life there until the present. She always took interest and enjoyed keeping up with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities and achievements. Everyone was well supplied with mitts and socks. She was predeceased by her husband Wayne Busch Sr, son Wayne Busch Jr, daughter Shirley Patterson, grandson Kyle Busch, seven sisters, four brothers, daughter-in-law Donna Busch and son-in-law Gary Linquist. She will be missed by daughters: Glenna Linquist, Sheila Polkinghorne (Robert), sons Karl Busch and Mark Busch. Also eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law Lyle and Anna Busch, and many nieces and nephews. 

Cremation has taken place. As per her wishes, a private family graveside service will take place. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice.
