With deepest sorrow we wish to announce the passing of Shannon W. McTavish, 67, of La Vallee, Ont., on Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born July 3, 1934 in Fort Frances, and had lived all her life in Rainy River District.
Shannon was the past president of the La Vallee United Church Women and was a member of the Guthrie United Church in Devlin. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and baseball was one of her favourite pastimes.
She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings. Most of all, she was proud to be a Canadian and a resident of La Vallee.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband, Don; sons, Randy and Murray; and daughters, Shelley, Barb, and Debbie and her husband, Eugene.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Michael (Sherry), Matthew, Jennifer (Dave), and James (Rhonda); great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Joshua, and Bryden; brothers, Harold “Sonny” and Ken (Sheila); sisters, May “Mickey” (Victor), Carol (Jack), and Julie (Lloyd); brothers-in-law, Ken (Joan), Allan (Lorraine), Ed (Gail), Bob (Karen), Ron (Charlene), and Doug (Patti); sisters-in-law, Shirley (Harold), Flora (Bob), Evelyn (Fred), Pat (Bob), and Stella (Don); as well as many nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her parents, William and Eva Carmody; grandmother, May “Nanny” Moss; sister, Eva (Bob); and brother, Billy.
Memorial services were held Saturday, July 21, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo, Ont., with Elaine Frazer officiating.
Interment took place in the Devlin Cemetery in Devlin, Ont.
Honourary pallbearers were Jim Belluz, John Esslink, Gary Esselink, and Norbert Bragg.
