SARAH ANN GAYLORD (NEE SIMMONS)

Sarah Ann Gaylord (nee Simmons) passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 26, 2007 in her home at Rainycrest with her family by her side.
Ann was born June 6, 1914 in Headingly, Man. She later moved to Winnipeg, Man., where she married her first love, Ted Halpenny.
Ann and Ted moved to Geraldton, Ont. in 1946, where they raised their daughter, Jo-Ann (MacDonald). After Ted’s death in 1982, Ann moved to Fort Frances, Ont. to be close to Jo-Ann’s family.
Ann was active in many organizations throughout her life. She was a life member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and active in the Royal Purple in Geraldton.
She also was a key member of the Ladies Auxiliary of St. James Anglican Church in Geraldton, and actively volunteered with Sister Kennedy Centre and the Rainycrest Auxiliary in Fort Frances.
It was at Sister Kennedy Centre where she met her second husband, Clarence Gaylord. Ann and Clarence were married in 1993, and brought much happiness to each other in the last years of their lives.
Ann was dearly loved, and will be missed, by her husband, Clarence; children, Jo-Ann and Robert “Bob” MacDonald; grandchildren, Doug MacDonald, and Jan and Mark Crielaard; and her great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She also will be missed by her Gaylord family, Barry and Shirley Gaylord, Brian and Debbie Gaylord, and Bonnie and Allan “Joe” Werenko; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ann was predeceased by her first husband, Ted; sister, Mary Sanderson; and many brothers.
The family would like to thank the kind staff at Rainycrest for their tender care in the last years of Ann’s life, and especially these last few months. We appreciate your kindness more than you can know.
Thank you also for the extra care you provided for us during our visits with Mom. Thanks also to Dr. Bob Algie for his dedication to providing medical care for Ann and support to her family.
