Saphire Rose Bruyere-Morrisseau, infant daughter of Alexandra “Allie” Morrisseau and Edward “Forrest” Scott of 231 Mainville Rd., Couchiching First Nation, Ont., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Man.
Saphire Rose is survived by her mother, Allie Morrisseau, and father, Forrest Scott, of Couchiching First Nation, Ont.; grandparents, Pamela Morrisseau and Darryl Ross of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., Steven Halcrow of Winnipeg, Man., George Bruyere of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., and Jean Scott of Guelph, Ont.; great-grandparents, Elaine Morrisseau and Bob Law, and Jackie and Brian Halcrow, all of Winnipeg, Man., and Rudy and Shirley Bruyere of Couchiching First Nation, Ont.; and great-great-grandmother, Louise Morrisseau of Fort Frances, Ont.
Also surviving are her uncles, Evan Morrisseau of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., Darryl Ross Jr. of Winnipeg, Man., Galan Mainville of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., and John Scott of Guelph, Ont.; aunts, Mallory Morrisseau of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., Katie Handberg of Fort Frances, Ont., and Reanna Scott of Guelph, Ont.; and numerous other aunts, uncles, and relatives.
She was predeceased by her maternal great-grandfather, Norman Calder, and great-great-grandfather Harry Morrisseau Sr.; and paternal great-great-grandfather, George Elmer Buryere and great-great-grandmother, Bellah Bruyere.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at noon at the Couchiching First Nation gymnasium. Elder Steve Johnson will officiate, with interment in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery at Couchiching First Nation.
A wake will be held Friday evening, Jan. 8, 2010 at the Couchiching First Nation gymnasium.
The pallbearers will be Mason Ottertail, Tuffy George, Kenny Morrisseau, and Evan Morrisseau.
