It is with great sadness that the family of Sam Puchalski announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Man.
Sam was born March 28, 1943 in Fort Frances, Ont. to John and Nellie Puchalski. He attended Robert Moore and Fort Frances High School before he left to join the Royal Canadian Navy with his buddies from Fort Frances.
After his navy experience, he chose the construction industry as his livelihood.
Sam had a very kind, caring, and generous nature. He especially loved to cook and we always looked forward to his delicious chili and other home-cooked meals.
He also was a devoted animal advocate who adored and cared for his dear, cuddly cat “Sugar” for more than 20 years.
He is survived by his three sisters, Judy Deschamps (Ron) and Donna Gustafson (Gary), both of Fort Frances, Ont., and Linda Murphy of Guelph, Ont.
Also surviving are his nephews and niece, Garnet (Lori) Deschamps of Anchorage, Alaska and their children, Ryder and Colby, Ryan (Erin) Deschamps of Fort Frances, Ont. and their children, Matthew and Morgan, and Kevin and Christina Murphy of Guelph, Ont.
Sam was predeceased by his father on Jan. 7, 1989; his mother on Oct. 24, 1999; and his precious cat, “Sugar.”
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date.
In memoriam donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Man., R3T 0R3.
“Those we love remain with us, for love itself lives on,
And cherished memories never fade because a love one’s gone . . .
Those we love can never be more than a thought apart,
For as long as there is memory, they’ll live on in our heart.
