SALLY (SARAH ANN HYATT) HALL

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sally (Mum).
She was born Oct. 15, 1933 in Lash Township, southeast of Emo, Ont., and left us to our memories on Jan. 10, 2015.
Sally attended school at Lash #10 and Alysworth, and then graduated from Fort Frances High School with her Grade 13 diploma in 1953.
She went to teachers’ college in North Bay, Ont. with a bursary from J.A. Mathieu and graduated in 1954. Her first teaching position was with the Ear Falls Hydro School Board in 1954.
Sally met and married Ken in Ear Falls, Ont. in 1957. They eventually moved into the schoolhouse, which was converted into a home. They lived in that home for 24 years before moving to Kenora, Ont. in 1978.
Sally loved the outdoors. The cabin is a very special place for our family. We did a lot of exploring, berry-picking, hunting, fishing, and bird-watching.
She also was an avid curler and played in many bonspiels in and around the area. Once she moved to Kenora, she took up golfing and enjoyed many afternoons on the golf course, where she made many new friends who meant so much to her.
Sally took up bowling in later years and enjoyed the friendships she made.
She was very involved with her church family, and dedicated many hours making jellies and jams for the church bazaar. She loved to read and research the history of her families.
She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing, often creating her own patterns. She participated in many craft sales, selling her crocheted angels and other crafts.
Nothing meant more to Sally than her family. She loved her children and was a dedicated stay-at-home mum. Her grandchildren spent many wonderful times with her.
Her birthday cakes were one of the best parts of their birthdays—made and decorated for each grandchild’s interests. She loved them all so much.
Sally leaves to mourn her loss her husband of 57 years, Ken; daughter, Karen Gail; son, Glenn James, and daughter-in-law, Carrie; five very special grandchildren, Garry James and granddaughter-in-law, Lisa, Ticanna Ann Rose and special friend, Chris, Mellissa Anne, Shanda-Lynn Gail and special friend, Craig, and River James; and four very special great-grandchildren, Chloe Anne, Evan James, Annebelle, and Stella Grace.
She also is survived by her sister, Pearl, nephew, Brian, and nieces, Barbara and Diane; sister, Donna, brother-in-law, Bob, and niece, Angie; brother, Norman, very special sister-in-law, Emily, and nephews, Trevor and David; and brother-in-law, Jim, nieces, Carol, Laurie, and Lynn, and nephew, Grant.
Mum had many friends who were such a great support to her during the last few years. The girls from the Breast Friends Group, we are so grateful for your support and for the love you showed her. She loved you girls.
Sally was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Rose Hyatt; in-laws, George and Clara Hall; nephew, Eddy; and sister, Pat, and brother-in-law, Doug.
Cremation has taken place, and there will be a family memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
Then he’ll call me someday to my home far away.
Where his glory forever I’ll share.
