It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Sabina Ruth Scott on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, Ont.
Sabina was born June 17, 1921 to Marcus Osbourne and Amy (Parker) Hartlin of Burriss, Ont.
She was predeceased by her husband, William; brother, Willy; and sister, Martha.
Sabina will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Jud, of Emo, Ont.; and children, Connie Miller (Hans) of Pinawa, Man., and Keith, Bill (Linda), and Doug (Allison) of Kenora, Ont.
Also left to mourn Sabina’s passing are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with whom she had developed some very special bonds and relationships.
She also leaves several cousins and nieces to be remembered by.
Sabina attended school in Burriss. She met and married her husband, Bill, in Barwick, Ont. and moved to Keewatin, Ont. in 1954.
Sabina was very interested in the local area history and enjoyed reading about it. She also loved to travel and especially enjoyed their trips to Alaska.
She often could be seen sitting in her chair knitting an afghan.
Sabina had worked at Birchwood as a nurses’ aide. She was a loving mother and a true friend, and she will be missed.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre in Kenora.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, with Rev. Cathy Giroux officiating.
Interment to follow at Lake of the Woods Cemetery in Kenora.
