RYAN MCALEER

With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Ryan McAleer on August 16, 2025, at the age of 46. He was a cherished partner, brother, son, brother-in-law, son-in-law, uncle, dog dad, and friend.

Born on February 9, 1979, in Oshawa, Ontario, to Lorne & Mary (nee Butler) McAleer, Ryan spent his early years in Alberta and British Columbia before his family settled in the Toronto area. He enjoyed many happy moments at Bear Lake with his family.

Ryan met Michelle Shute in Toronto and became her partner in 2000. They moved to Fort Frances in 2004. Ryan and Michelle shared nearly 25 years of love, laughter, and adventures.

Ryan had a deep love for his dogs, who were more than pets to him; they were family. He treasured quiet moments at home with Michelle and their three dogs.

Throughout his career, Ryan worked in various industries, forming strong connections with colleagues. He had many interests, including photography, writing, and painting, but his true passion was riding his motorcycle. As a member of the Redrum Motorcycle Club, he supported causes close to his heart and formed lasting relationships.

Known for his gift of gab and generous spirit, Ryan had a talent for lightening the mood and making a lasting impression. He was always ready to lend a hand to friends in need and found joy in giving to others.

Ryan leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He was predeceased by his father Lorne McAleer; father-in-law Mike Shute; and special aunt Joanne Groller. He is survived by his partner Michelle Shute; sister-in-law Jessica Shute and partner Jol Smith; mother-in-law Shelley Shute; mother Mary McAleer, partner Jim Wilson, and their daughter Emma; brother Lorne McAleer, his wife Megan, and their daughters Charlie and Olive; along with extended family and his beloved dogs Lana, Archer, and Zara.

Ryan will be deeply missed but remembered fondly in our hearts. A celebration of his life took place on August 23, 2025, with his brothers from Redrum honouring him with his last ride.
