Ruth Winnifred Russell passed away peacefully Sunday, May 19, 2002 at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby, Ont. with her girls around her.
Ruth, the heart of her family, was devoted to her role as wife, mother, and grandmother, following a career as a registered nurse. She expressed her caring nature through her community volunteer work.
The cottage at Balsam Lake was her special place, where years of family gatherings nurtured all.
She was the wife of the late Dr. Andrew (1999); and dear mother of Barbara (Chris) Raven of Burlington, Mary (David) Hickling of Fort Frances, Diane (John) Kiser of Braeside, Joan Russell of Toronto, and Margaret (Richard) VanGelder of St. Catharines.
She also was loving grandmother of Andrew, Mark, Matthew, Heather, Jason, Brad, Scott, Stephanie, Ryan, and Hilary; and sister of Helen (Albert) Scafetti, Karen (Mike) Piano, all of Hamilton, and Peter (Bobbi) Clark of Hagersville.
Cremation has taken place.
The family will receive friends at the Tallman Funeral Home, 4998 King St., Beamsville, Ont., on Thursday, May 23 from 7-8:30 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church, William Street, Beamsville on Friday, May 24, 2002 at 7 p.m.
