RUTH EDITH GUNDERSON

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Ruth Gunderson on May 3, 1999 at Port Arthur General Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont. She was born Dec. 20, 1925 in Emo, Ont.
She was predeceased by her son, Edward Roald Gunderson on March 2, 1997; father, Steven J. Redford on Dec. 26, 1980; mother, Edith Redford on May 14, 1985; and brother, Steven R. Redford on Nov. 11, 1986.
Ruth always will be lovingly remembered by her husband, James E. Gunderson of Crozier, Ont.; four daughters, Janice White of Ottawa, Ont., Jo-Anne and husband, Brent Treftlin, of Vancouver, B.C., Debra and husband, Greg Wilson, of Dryden, Ont., and Beth Gunderson of Vancouver, B.C.; one son, Rodney Gunderson of Toronto, Ont.; 10 grandchildren, Shawn McCaig, Tracy White, Julie Loveday, Chrissy White, Tyler and Sarah Treftlin, and Carrie, Eamon, Reid, and Sheila Wilson; and three great-grandchildren, Ashley and Michael McCaig, and Samantha Loveday.
Also surviving are three brothers, Don Redford and wife, Irene, of Emo, Ont., Ron Redford and wife, Wylma, of Fort Frances, Ont., and Delbert Redford of Emo, Ont.; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth enjoyed gardening, travelling, walking, and caring for her family. Her love of family gatherings is evident in the numerous photographs she has collected over the years. She was a constant companion to her husband and her life centered around the family.
A wonderful hostess, Ruth enjoyed entertaining and telling stories about family events. Her wit and sense of humour was a highlight of every gathering.
As a mother, she was a role model to her children and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 6, 1999 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Pastor Chet Cooper officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Friends visited Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Dave Ogden, Doug Wilson, Mark McCaig, Al Loveday, Ron S. Redford, Paul Redford, and John Redford.
Honourary pallbearers were Ruth’s family and friends.
