Russell (Russ) Lewis, 77, of Burriss Township, Ont., passed away Wednesday, April 28, 1999 at his residence. He was born May 14, 1921 in Mossley, Ont. to the late Edwin and Charlotte Lewis.
Russ farmed in Mossley for many years. He was a member of the Crampton United Church, and past member of the Oddfellows Lodge in Crampton, Ont.
On April 17, 1942, he was united in marriage to the former Doris Patience, who predeceased him in 1992. In 1996, Russ moved to Burriss to live with his daughter, Barbara.
For enjoyment, Russ liked to watch ballgames and go fishing.
He was predeceased by one brother, Harold Lewis; and one sister, Shirley Lewis in infancy.
Russ is survived by two daughters, Barbara and husband, Brian Trimble, of Devlin, Ont., and Marion Gauthier of London, Ont.; seven grandchildren, Golden Trimble and wife, Sharon, of Devlin, Ont., Darien Trimble and wife, Barbara, of Emo, Ont.; Conan Trimble and Ben Trimble of Devlin, Ont., Nicole Gauthier and Michele Gauthier of London, Ont., and Brandon Gauthier of Korea; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Sarah, and Haley Trimble.
Also surviving are one brother, Elmer Lewis of Exeter, Ont.; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 6, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ont., with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
Honourary pallbearers will be George Hyatt, Gunther Rittau, Golden Trimble, Darien Trimble, Conan Trimble, Ben Trimble, and Brandon Gauthier.
