It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rudolph B. Coran, 85, who passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2006 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances with wife, Barbara, and family by his side.
Rudolph was born March 8, 1920 in International Falls, MN. to the late Regino and Maria Coran. He moved with his family to Fort Frances at the age of three months.
He was united marriage to the former Barbara Carpenter on April 28, 1984.
Rudolph was very talented. His wood carvings were exceptional in detail and beauty. As well, Rudolph and Barbara’s home was always open to family and friends. Everyone was made to feel welcome to visit and share a cup of coffee.
Rudolph is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sisters, Olympia Benassi (Joe) of International Falls, Mn. and Antonia Edgett of Fort Frances, Ont.; one brother, Raymond (Lyla) Coran of Fort Frances, Ont.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Coran of Fort Frances, Joy (James) Briggs of International Falls, Mn., and Brenda (Tom) Haney of Fort Frances, Ont.; brother-in-law, Bernard (Elaine) Carpenter of Vancouver, B.C.; an aunt, Josephine Coran of Blaine, Mn.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was predeceased by parents, Regino and Maria Coran; two brothers, Guido Coran and his wife, Helen, and Dovilio Coran; sister, Laura Cerutti and husband, Frinds; and aunt, Eliza Gasparini.
A visitation was held Friday, Jan. 13, 2006 from 7 until 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with parish prayers offered at 7:30 p.m. Deacon Bob Grynol officiated.
A funeral mass was held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Msgr. George Bourguignon officiated. The music was provided by organist Marnie Dutton and soloist Cara Coran.
The pallbearers were Brian Briggs, Richard Peron, Todd Wood, Larry O’Brien, Perry Trask, and Mark Coran.
The honourary pallbearers were Jim Kuryla, Michael Kuryla, Severino Piccinatio, Camillo Belluz, Enrico Perin, Oral Howland, Phil Olson, and Jack Havluck.
The ushers were Michael Coran and Robert Trompeter.
Interment was held Monday, Jan. 16, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances.
