Ruby Ellen Kulcheski, 73, of 1133 Scott St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Ruby was born March 1, 1925 in Fort Frances, where she also was raised. During W.W.II, she worked in a munitions plant in Nobel, Ont.
Ruby was united in marriage to Lewis Joseph Kulcheski on April 12, 1947 and together they settled in Fort Frances. First in her life, Ruby was a homemaker, but in the 1970s, she worked at the Fort Frances Health Clinic as an audio-visual technician. From 1978, Ruby owned and operated Biddy’s Yellow Cab until she retired in 1985.
She enjoyed gardening and playing cards. Ruby was a people person who always took time for others and cared for others. Her family was the centre of her life, and she will be greatly missed by them.
She was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Ellen Stallberg; husband, Lewis Kulcheski (Nov. 7, 1992); two brothers, Dick and Erick Stallberg; and sister, Ethel Anderson-Reed.
Ruby is survived by her daughters, Judith and husband, Jim Hinkle, of Sebring, Fl., Karen and husband, Launey Cross, of Edson, Alta., and Ann Thompson and husband, Ken Amirault, of Calgary, Alta.; 10 grandchildren, Nathan, Nicole, Stefanie, Mike, Michelle, and Joe Thompson, Clayton, Kris and Sara-Dawn Cross, and Michelle Stewart; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two goddaughters, Janis French and Michelle Metzner; and pet dog and faithful companion, Patches.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998 at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. Patrick Playfair officiating.
Since Ruby had so many wonderful friends, the family would like to consider all of her friends as her honourary pallbearers.
