ROY ZUB

It is with great sadness that the family of Roy Zub announces his passing on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at his residence in Fort Frances, Ont.
Roy was born Oct. 22, 1927 in Fort Frances to the late John and Katrina Zub. He was united in marriage to Joyce Thesenvitz on June 12, 1954.
Roy operated Roy’s Electric from 1968 until his retirement in 1995. He served in the Canadian Merchant Navy and the Canadian Army during the Second World War, and also served in the Fort Frances Armories.
He had a great love for the outdoors, spending time at the lake with family and friends.
Roy was a valued chartered member of the Voyageur Lions Club.
Roy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce; and sons, Douglas, David (Susan), and Howard (Betsy). He was the dear grandfather of Tiffany, Carly Rae, Cole, Serene (Lee), Anya (Tim), Johnathon (Tiffany), and Carmen; and great-grandfather to Daegen.
He also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Roy was predeceased by his parents, John and Katrina; daughter, Tracy Ann; grandson, Jason; brothers, Alex, Mike, Harry, and Edward; and sister, Netty.
A celebration of Roy’s life will be held Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances, with Rev. Barb Miller officiating.
Interment will take place in Pineridge Cemetery in North Branch, Ont.
The honourary pallbearers will be Dick Bird, Paul Ewacha, Jack Geary, Warren Zub, Jim Martindale, Larry Arch, and Roy Galandzy.
