It is with deep sadness that the family of Roy L. Peterson announces his passing on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015 in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Roy was born Aug. 22, 1948 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late Elof and Elna Peterson. He had lived all his life in the Rainy River District.
Roy had worked as the manager at Superior Propane for 25 years, and also had worked at Tompkin’s Hardware until his retirement.
In his younger years, Roy enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, Curtis, along with many fun summers at the family cabin boating, with his wife, Shelby, always by his side.
He loved and thought the world of his grandchildren, and always looked forward to attending family gatherings and playing the accordion.
He always was ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
Roy was united in marriage to the former Shelby Beck, who survives along with their son, Curtis (Dory) Peterson.
Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Kyle and Samara (Sammy); sisters-in-law, Jane Peterson and family, Charlene (Gerry) Wood and family, and Jackie (Monty) Howarth and family; and extended family, Linnea Nixon and her children, Debbie and Bradley.
Roy was predeceased by his parents, Elof and Elna Peterson, and brother, Hilding
A celebration of Roy’s life will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Marlyss Thiessen officiating.
The honorary pallbearers will be Jack Mattson, Raymond Gustafson, Tom Mosbeck, Art Hammond, Stanley Peterson, and Dean Bruyere.
