It is with great sadness that the family of Roy Emile Legarie announces his passing, with family and friends by his side, on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Roy was born Dec. 1, 1926 in Virginia, Mn. to Alcide and Marian Legarie. He served in the Canadian Army and upon his return, started working for the local paper mill in Fort Frances.
He was united in marriage to Jean Schram on June 2, 1950.
He leaves behind his wife, Jean; children, Wayne Legarie, Arlye and husband, Robert Taylor, and Tim Legarie and wife, Cheryl; daughter-in-law, Jamie Legarie; grandchildren, Cindy, Michelle, Gordon, Jeremy, Jessica, Heather, Sarah, Destin, Brandon, R.J., and Keith; and great-grandchildren, Casey, Ashley, Zachary, Alexandra, Ayres, Arley, and Jessie.
He also is survived by his sisters, Gladys Mattowskie and Madeline and husband, Ken Martin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy was predeceased by his parents; son, Gordon; brothers, Leonard, Don, Francis, and Jerry; and sisters, Ann Sanders and Nora May Legarie.
A visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 3, 2015 at 7 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with parish prayers offered at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 4, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home, with Fr. Victor De Gagné officiating.
Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers will be Conley Legaree, Jerry Boland, Tim Legarie, R.J. Noga, Brandon Legarie, and Destin Legarie.
