Rose Spencer, 82, of Seine River First Nation, Ont., passed away at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. on Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998.
She was born May 16, 1916 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Johnson.
Rose had many hobbies, which included sewing, attending Pow-Wows, setting nets, tanning hides, leather and bead work, and birch bark crafts. She also was a trapper and a lumberjack.
Rose is survived by four sons, George and wife, Agnes, Steve and wife, Susan, Dave and wife, Karen, and Robert Spencer, all of Seine River First Nation; and two daughters, Rosie Spoon of Seine River First Nation and Hilda Yerxa of Couchiching First Nation.
Also surviving are 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Spencer; an infant daughter, Margaret; and her stepmother, Mary.
A Traditional Burial Ritual was held Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998 in the morning at the Seine River First Nation Hall.
A funeral wake was held Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998 at the Seine River First Nation Hall.
