Rosie Annie (Kolyser) Roe passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 at the age of 105.
Rose was predeceased by her husband, Eric Roe; parents, John and Lena Kolyser; and all of her siblings.
She is survived by her nephews, Les Ivall and Frank Books (Carla) of Rainy River, Ont.; and nieces, Doris Mykietowich and Ruth Predinchuk of Winnipeg, Man., and Jeanne (Ron) Magson of Surrey, B.C.
Rose worked at numerous jobs during her life. She was a well-liked waitress in the CN Hotel.
After Eric came home from the war, they moved to Toronto, Ont., where they bought a bakery which they owned for about 10 years.
After they sold the bakery, she finished her working years in the kitchen at one of Toronto’s hospitals.
After they retired, they moved back to Rainy River and bought a place on River Road, where they resided until Eric’s passing.
Rose then moved to B.C. for a few years.
She later returned to Rainy River, buying a small house on 2nd Street, where she lived until making the move to Riverview Apartments and then to the long term care unit.
She was a member of the Seniors’ Wednesday group, which she attended faithfully. She will be remembered for her love of dancing and her stamina.
Rose also loved the outdoors, camping, and her birds, especially her canaries. She enjoyed a simple, healthy, active life and loved to socialize.
Rose has been cremated and a service will be held in the spring.
Rest in peace, Rose. You will be remembered.
