ROSALYN ARMIT

It is with deep sadness and regret that her family announces the passing of Rosalyn Armit, 58, after a courageous, determined, and inspiring battle with cancer.
She passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at the Dryden Regional Health Centre in Dryden, Ont. on Saturday, May 22, 2004. Rosalyn was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Rosalyn was born Oct. 10, 1945 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Henry and Viola Dittaro. She was part of close and blessed family with two brothers and two sisters.
She attended grade school and secondary school in Fort Frances before training to become an RNA. She began her career as a nurse working in La Verendrye Hospital and the Fort Frances Clinic.
In 1960, she met her future husband, Richard, and they subsequently were married in 1965. The couple moved to Dryden in 1967 and began raising a family of their own. She was blessed with two beautiful sons, Brian in 1972 and Barry in 1976.
Rosalyn continued to work as a nurse in Dryden at both the Dryden Hospital and Dryden Medical Clinic. Conflicting shift schedules and time away from her family eventually led to a career change, and Rosalyn began working for Skillen Squire Insurance and finally onto Alex Wilson Coldstream before leaving work in 2000 to continue her fight with cancer.
Curling was always a favourite sport of Roz’s, playing in both the mixed and women’s leagues. Many wonderful times were spent at bonspiels and socializing with friends at the curling club.
Roz also was very active in her community and church. She was a past president of the Catholic Women’s League and an active member of the Breast Cancer Support Group. She was an unbelievable inspiration to her family and friends, and will continue to provide us with her strength to carry on our lives without her.
Never allowing the pain and suffering to slow her down, she always led an active and full life.
Rosalyn leaves behind to mourn her husband of 39 years, Richard; her two sons, Brian (Jennifer) of Dryden, Ont., and Barry (Manon), also of Dryden, Ont.; and grandchildren, Evan, Cody, and Ashleigh.
Also surviving are her parents, Henry and Viola Dittaro of Fort Frances, Ont.; sister Kathy James (Bill) of Fort Frances, Ont.; and brother, Rick Dittaro (Cammy) of Fort Frances, Ont.
A number of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews also survive.
Rosalyn was predeceased by her sister, Betty Anne; and brother, John.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at the Roman Catholic Church in Dryden. Standing room only allowed all mourners to fully appreciate the number of people Rosalyn had touched throughout her life.
A beautiful eulogy was read by friend, Terry Dunn, with Fr. All Campeau officiating.
If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Dryden Regional Health Centre, Oncology Unit, through the Stevens Funeral Homes, “Moffat Chapel,” Box 412, Dryden, Ont., P8N 2Z1.
