ROSALINDA SCHULZKI
Rosalinda Schulzki passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007 in Fort Frances, Ont. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and the entire community.
Rose was born in Odessa, Russia on April 14, 1935 to Frank and Christina Thome. She was the only girl in the family with six brothers.
At the age of 17, she moved with her family to Medicine Hat, Alta. As a young lady, she worked in the pottery there and in the commercial greenhouses.
Rose married Richard Schulzki in 1955 in Medicine Hat. With her young family, she moved to the farm in Emo, Ont. in 1962, where she devoted her life to being an excellent mother and wife.
When Richard, her husband of 48 years, died in 2003, Rose moved into the town of Emo, where she lived until she died.
Gardening and flowers were her passion, and soon she transformed her backyard into a beautiful flowered paradise.
She also was an excellent cook and baker. Many people enjoyed the cuisine and hospitality she offered. A visit to her home just wasn’t complete until you had eaten some of her fine baking.
Rose was an active member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Emo. She also was a member of the Catholic Women’s League.
Rosalinda was predeceased by her husband, Richard, and her father, Frank Thome, as well as one great-grandchild, Nicholas Stewart.
She will be greatly missed by daughter, Rosemaria Sharp and her husband, David; her son, Bernhard Schulzki and his wife, Brigitte; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Michael, and Tim Sharp, and Danny, Christine, Sonya, and Richard Schulzki; and one great-granddaughter, Kiera Stewart, who will miss their kind and caring Grandma.
Rose also leaves to mourn her passing her mother, Christina Thome; her six brothers and their families in western Canada, as well as many Schulzki family members in Thunder Bay and in Germany.
Many nieces and nephews, cousins, neighbours, and friends also will miss this fine and gracious lady.
Prayers and visitation were held Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007 at 7 p.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont.
A funeral mass was held Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Emo, with Fr. Dan Debano celebrant.
The pallbearers were her grandchildren and the honourary pallbearers were the members of St. Patrick’s C.W.L. in Emo.
Rose will be laid to rest in Emo Cemetery.
