It is with great sorrow that the family of Ronald Arthur Olson announces his passing, with family at his side, in the early morning of Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015.
Ron was born on May 22, 1938 in Rainy River, Ont. to Arthur and Thelma.
As a young man, he worked for the local bush camps and then drove truck. Ron also was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, four-wheeling, and snowmachining.
Ron married the love of his life, Phyllis (Laverdure), on March 25, 1958. They moved to Dryden, Ont., where he continued to drive truck and worked at the local paper mill until he retired in 1994.
Ron will be deeply missed by his children, Wendy (Daniel), Ronda (Garry), Sandra (Darren), and Beth (Kelvin); grandchildren, Ronald (Carrie), Jill (Enrique), Timothy (Laura), Amber, Jacob, and Sarah; and great-grandchildren, Jailynn, Kallin, and Aubreigh, and Taylor, Joshua, and Cassidy.
Ron also is survived by his siblings, Gordon, Ralph (Adrienne), Anne (Marvin), and Laurie (John).
He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis; parents, Arthur and Thelma; sister, Viviane; and sister-in-law, Anita.
Cremation has taken place.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home.
A luncheon will follow.
