Rommel Cardona Blase, 49, died Monday, March 1, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loved ones. Rommel, known by his family as Romie, was born on September 14, 1971, in Villaviciosa, Abra, Phillipines to Nissa Cardona Blase and Jesse Blase.

He is truly loved by his wife Maricel, together they were blessed with three beautiful children; Ryan James, Denisse Inya, and Selena Isabel. He was a strong father to his children and was a wonderful, generous husband. Rommel grew up in the Philippines and migrated to Canada along with his two sisters and his father in 1993 to be reunited with his mother.

Rommel started his journey living with the rest of the family in Fort Frances, Ontario, and worked as a parts specialist at West End Motors. He continued this career when he moved to Winnipeg in 2000, and worked at Midway Chrysler for a few years until it closed. His next job was at Waverley Chrysler, until he moved on to work at Eastern Chrysler then Canadian Tire in 2012. Rommel moved on to work at Gauthier Dodge in 2018. One month later, he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer which he bravely and courageously fought. Throughout his career, he made plenty of wonderful friends.

He will always be remembered as a loving brother by his siblings Patricia Berg (husband Lionel), and Jane Judson (husband Trevor). He influenced each of the youth in his family; his nieces Janissa and Samantha and nephews Jeffrey and Dale will miss their mentor and loving uncle. Rommel will be missed by his mother-in-law Ruby Abquilen; brother-in-law Rolly (wife Riza and kids); and his auntie Bing Gicale (husband Benjie and kids). Known for his laughter, amusing jokes, beautiful singing voice, and his amazing cooking, he never failed to make people feel satisfied with a simple gesture or smile. A love like no other, no one will forget the love he left in our hearts.
