ROMA MARIE LARRY

Roma Marie Larry, 81, of Fort Frances, ON passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Rainycrest Long Term Care.
Roma was born on Aug. 13, 1938 in Pinewood, ON to Odilon and Lea Legros. She grew up in Pinewood, ON and moved to Fort Frances with her family as a teenager. She was united in marriage with Clifford Larry on Sept. 27, 1969.
Roma was an organizer, a role in which she shone many times. Through planning wonderful meals prepared for family and friends or organizing family and school reunions she showed her love of getting people together to share a story, a meal and hopefully a polka or two.
Roma worked as a waitress, first at the Rainy Lake Hotel in the 1950’s and then at the Harbourage Restaurant in the 1990’s. Many tourists were amazed when she remembered them from the previous summer. Roma enjoyed giving each and every customer the very best dining experience.
Throughout their marriage, Roma and Cliff enjoyed exploring both Canada and the United States. This began in 1969 on their honeymoon to Las Vegas and Disneyland. After retirement, mom and dad completed many car trips throughout Eastern Canada and much of the United States, stopping at most of the little airfields along the way. In 2017, Roma made her first trip abroad when she visited Norway and Iceland with Andréa and her family.
Roma was extremely talented at embroidery and cross-stitch. Many family and friends have received a hand embroidered baby blanket.
Roma was predeceased by her parents Odilon and Lea; husband Clifford on April 6, 2008; son Andrew on Oct. 16, 2005; and older sister Lucille Lakatos.
Roma leaves behind her daughter Andréa Olsen and husband Bjorn Runar; grandchildren Erik and Elise Olsen and granddaughter Jeannette as well as her sister Janet Tymoshyk.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held this summer.
If friends so desire in memoriam donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
