ROBERT W. PHILLIPS

Robert. W. Phillips of International Falls, Mn., beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at Woodrest Health Care in Walker, Mn. on Sunday, June 26, 2005. He was 95 years young.
He was born to Leila and Chester Phillips, one of a set of twins, on May 30, 1910 in Oakland, Calif. He was raised in Houghton, Mich. before moving to International Falls as a young man.
He served as an electrician’s mate 1st class with the 1st Division of the United States Marine Corps in World War Two. In March, 1946, he married Dorothy Izzard.
Robert worked for the telephone company and finished his career of 35 years as an electrician with the Rainy River Improvement Company, serving as a line supervisor.
He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed gardening, spending time on Rainy Lake, and reading. He also was a member of the VFW, the Masonic Order, a Knight Templar, and served as secretary for the Falls Memorial Hospital Board for 25 years.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Candace and David West of Bemidji, Mn.; grand-daughter, Holly West-Hedeen (Eric) of Bemidji, Mn., grandson, Robert West (Heather) of Seattle, Wash.; sister-in-law, Rotha Rogers (Charles) of Winnipeg, Man.; brother-in-law, Frank Izzard (Bernice) of Yuma, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved and beautiful wife, Dorothy; twin sister, Alice; his parents; and grandparents.
A graveside memorial service will be held in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances, Ont. on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Georgina Connor officiating.
