It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Potson announces his sudden passing on Thursday, July 15, 2021.

He was born on September 29, 1957 to Albert Herbert Sr. and Mary Potson. He grew up in Seine River First Nation, attending Day School in Seine River and later residential school in Fort Frances. Robert loved to be outdoors, he fished, hunted and trapped; during the winter he played hockey. He worked as a logger and carpenter before joining the Ministry of Natural Resources Fire Crew.

Robert leaves behind his children Stacy Kabatay (Anjenette Parisien), Jonathan Potson (Tiffany), Roberta Kabatay (Brian Smith), Curtis Johnson (Raven), Ashley Potson, Melissa Potson (Kevin Yerxa) and Laura Spencer; 21 grandchildren; siblings Glenda Cowley, Valentina Herbert, Gail Herbert, Neil Herbert, Anne Shebagegit (Darryl), John Herbert (Cathy), Annie Boyd, Tom Johnson Jr. (Cecile), Clarence (Wengy) Johnson, Barbara Johnson (Chug Yerxa); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; daughter Nicole Kabatay; brother A.J. Herbert; and grandparents Irene and Jack Potson and Margaret and Patty Herbert.

A traditional wake will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 from 3 p.m. at the Seine River First Nation Gymnasium.

A traditional funeral ceremony will be held in the morning of Wednesday July 21, 2021 at the Seine River First Nation Gymnasium.

The pallbearers will be Robert’s family and friends.
