ROBERT KENNEDY TUESDAY

Niningaate Igaabo

Robert Kennedy Tuesday was born in Rainy River, Ontario to Martha and Robert Tuesday. He spent his childhood and early years in Big Grassy First Nation. He was the baby of the family. He would later move to Sioux Lookout and then to Winnipeg and Edmonton. He was affectionately known to his family as Pukinay, as well as Uncle Bobby, Aunt B, or UB.

He worked for Child and Family services in Sioux Lookout and was always in the helping field. He was always willing to help others. In Winnipeg is where UB met and married his love Nancy. She would sadly pass away later to cancer but he always loved her deeply.

While he never had children of his own his nieces and nephews were his children. He was a dad to Christopher and Dustin while they were growing up and later would be shoomis to all his nephews and nieces and loved them all dearly. He was always thinking about getting Christmas presents for every one of them but his presence was always the best gift. UB had a deep love of music, visiting family and friends. He loved animals and especially most recently his cat Pubba who he adored.

UB touched many lives with his kindness and generosity. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit and his hugs. We can still feel his hugs. He loved to laugh and when he laughed everyone laughed with him. He was very connected to Big Grassy and had many stories of growing up there. Everyone who knew him heard stories of his adventures (and misadventures). In recent years his only wish was to go home and be with family.

Robert Tuesday is survived by his brother Martin Tuesday (Violet); sister Rose Gunderson; sister-in-law Lorraine Nepitabo; adopted sons Dustin and Chris; nephews Brian, Otis, Robin; niece Tracy; and all his relatives, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents Martha and Robert; his auntie Geraldine Archie; his brothers Freddie Tuesday, Brian Tuesday (Kathy Jack), Percy Tuesday (Jane Tuesday) and sisters Janice Tuesday, Delores Kelly (Bob Kelly), and Lorna Shields (Geoff Shields); his nephew Jason Tuesday; among others in his family.

There will be a wake that will be held at the Big Grassy First Nation Community hall on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Ceremony will be officiated by Elder Jazz Comegan on Friday, September 26, 2025. Everyone is invited to attend.
