ROBERT HODGINS (BUD) SMITH

Robert Hodgins (Bud) Smith, 82, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., formerly of Emo, Ont., passed away at his residence Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004.
He was born Dec. 12, 1921 in Ottawa, Ont. to the late W.A. Smith and Edna. He, his parents, and five siblings drove up in a Model A car to Kingsford Township in 1926, where he farmed and logged most of his life.
Bud enjoyed the outdoors, whether it be taking care of the farm animals, trapping, or hunting.
Many laughs and stories were made at the auction sales he loved to attend.
The family includes his sister, Jean Cates of Fort Frances, Ont.; his sister-in-law, Gladys Smith of Emo, Ont.; and his nieces and nephews, which include Eric and Shirley Cates, Allan and Lenore Cates, Grace and George Bird, Glenda and Louis Quesnel, and Linda and Morris Begin; Ed and Gerry Armstrong, Laverne and Heikki Lampi, Dennis and Yvonne Armstrong, Orval and Sandy Armstrong, Gerald and Peggy Armstrong, and Gary and Linda Armstrong; and Louise and Tony Bliss, Keith and Sadie Smith, and Carol and Bob Angus.
Also surviving are his cousins, Myrtle Hodgins of Shawville, Que., Catherine Wilson of Kinburn, Ont., and John Smith of Armprior, Ont.; and as well many great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, W.A. in 1963 and Edna in 1968; twin sister, Edna Armstrong in 1984 and sister, Ruby Smith in 1980; brothers, Bill Smith in 1971 and Charlie Smith in 1996; as well as brothers-in-law, Vernon Armstrong in 1971 and George Cates in 2003.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at 2 p.m.
at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Pastor Peggy Mason officiating. Interment will take place in Emo Cemetery in Emo at a later date.
Visitation will take place from 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday afternoon.
Pallbearers will be Eric Cates, Allan Cates, Gerald Armstrong, Keith Smith, Bob Angus, and Tony Bliss.
Honourary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews.
