Robert Edward (Bob) Berg passed away on October 27, 2022 in Mendoza, Argentina.
Bob was born in Fort Frances, Ontario, on July 1, 1946, to Albert and Edith (Christiansen). He spent his working years in Toronto, starting with the Clerk’s Department of the Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto in October 1965. Bob retired from the amalgamated City of Toronto Finance Department in 2003.
He is survived by his sisters Carol Botts (Mike) of Fontana, California, and Florence Richard (Rollie) of Winnipeg Manitoba; his spouse Jorge Genes of Mendoza, Argentina; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and several cousins. He also leaves behind many close friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Lynda Allen of Devlin, Ontario, in 2008.
Bob enjoyed travelling and experiencing other cultures. He moved to Mendoza in 2006, where he said the reason was “the weather, the weather, the weather.” Bob was an avid reader, and was never without a book. He loved to garden, cook, talk politics, religion and history, and was very much into genealogy, having traced his family on his maternal grandmother’s side (Anna Christiansen) back to the 1500’s.
Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be interred in his mother’s grave in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
