ROBERT (BOB) McKELVIE

Robert (Bob) McKelvie passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 in Vancouver, Wash.
Bob was born June 23, 1929 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Albert (Mac) and Doris McKelvie.
After graduation from Fort Frances High School in 1946, he went to work for the Ontario-Minnesota Pulp and Paper Company. In 1968, he was transferred to Portland, Ore. with Boise Cascade and worked as an accountant and financial analyst until he retired in 1991.
During his employment, he made many trips back to Fort Frances and International Falls, Mn. to work on major construction projects.
On July 12, 1952, he was united in marriage to Mary Yurchuk at St. John’s Anglican Church in Fort Frances and remained married for over 62 years.
After retirement, Bob continued with consulting work in the paper industry and enjoyed counselling small businesses through SCORE.
His hobby pursuits were gardening and fine furniture construction. He built many lovely pieces for both his own home, his daughters’, and friends.
Bob and Mary also enjoyed travelling and took several enjoyable cruises.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his brothers, Don and Fred.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mary, daughters, Brenda (Dennis Grannen) of Las Vegas, Nev. and Maureen (Bruce Thompson) of Tucson, Ariz.; sisters-in-law, Hetty Walker of Pembina, N.D. and Connie McKelvie and Donna McKelvie, both of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
A memorial service for the family was held Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland.
