Mr. Robert Archie Shaw passed away Dec. 23, 2006 at home with family by his side.
Bob was born Sept. 4, 1940 in Fort Frances, Ont. In 1963, he joined the OPP, retiring as Detective Superintendent in Sault Ste. Marie in 1994.
Bob enjoyed sports like baseball and curling, and especially golfing with his good friends, Mike Caraher and Jack Welsch. He also enjoyed golfing trips to South Carolina with his special friends.
He was very proud of his family, especially his grandkids. Many hours were spent watching them play hockey and spending time with them in his cherished backyard.
Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Tom and companion, Donna, Kevin and companion, Katy, and Gordon and wife, Andrea; brother, Michael and wife, Julie; sister, Adele and husband, Wayne; grandchildren, Sara, Stephen, Jordan, Carveth, Paige, and Kyle; and daughter-in-law, Cathy.
Also surviving are his aunts, Helen Eide, and Dorothy and husband, Bob Cupp; mother-in-law, Luella Katona; brother-in-law, Edward Katona and wife, Margaret; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Leonore; and brother, Gordon.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. at First Church United, with Rev. Kent Gibbons officiating.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the VON or the Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be appreciated.
