Richard Macedon, 81, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
He was born on August 17, 1940, in LaVallee, Ontario. He grew up on the family farm and as a young man joined the local paper mill. He worked as a papermaker for over 37 years. He was united in marriage to Ruth Ramsdale on September 17, 1966, and they had 55 wonderful years together. Ruth and Richard raised a family and enjoyed travelling together. Family was very important to Richard. He was a member of the Early Iron Car Club, Fort Frances Curling Club, and the Knox United Church. Richard loved to curl, fish, tinker with his car, travel, read, and spend time with his grandchildren.
Richard will be greatly missed by his wife Ruth; daughter Maureen and husband Joedy Warren and their children Joshua, Jordyn, Matthew and Michael; son David Macedon and wife Lori and their children Brodi and Brett; sister Dorothy Cote; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents George and Elizabeth Macedon; mother-in-law Margaret Ramsdale; siblings Elsie and husband Bob Ward, Jean and husband Jerry Adams; and brother-in-law Bob Cote.
Cremation has taken place and due to COVID-19 restrictions a private family service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022.
