RICHARD ALAN MEADES

Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Richard Meades on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010 at Health Sciences Centre at the age of 51.
Richard, who lived in Winnipeg, Man., will be lovingly remembered by Marielle, his wife of 18 years; his daughter, Natashia and his sons, Justin and Ryan (Stephanie); and granddaughter, Kadence.
He also is survived by his sisters, Susan Puttkemery and her children, Matt, Bethany, and Garratt of Collingwood, Ont., and Penny McComb (Frank) and their children, Andrew (Jessica and son, Landen) and Sarah (Jon); and by his parents-in-law, Gérard and Diana Bernardin, and their children, Hélène, Aurel (Sandra), Adrien (Blanche), and Luc (Joan), all of Winnipeg, Man.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Bunny Meades of Fort Frances, Ont.
Richard lived each day to the fullest, taking great pride in his children and enjoying his many hobbies, especially wind-surfing. One of his greatest achievements was building the family cottage near Grand Beach.
A memorial service took place on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles St., Winnipeg, with Fr. Paul Tinguely officiating.
A private family interment will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be sent to CancerCare Manitoba.
God looked around His garden,
And found an empty space.
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you,
And lifted you to rest,
God’s garden must be beautiful
He takes only the best.

He knew that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain,
He knew the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, “peace be thine.”

It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
