It is with great sadness that the family of Reta Johnson announces her sudden passing on Sunday, June 27, 2021 in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born on February 24, 1951 in Lac La Croix First Nation to John Whitefish and Doris Ottertail. She grew up in Lac La Croix First Nation working at Campbell’s Cabins and Zup’s Camp. She was united in marriage to Tommy Johnson on February 19, 1982 and they settled in Naicatchewenin First Nation. She loved to camp during the summer and took many fishing trips. She enjoyed spending time with family and loved to cook for them. She was champion Bingo player and loved to help others.
Reta leaves behind her husband Tommy; son Gary Whitefish; siblings Elmer Whitefish, Clifford Whitefish, Wayne (Beatrice) Whitefish and his children Josh and Saxon, June Ottertail (Ralph) and her children Ralphie, Chris, Troy, Cory, Dawn and Crystal, Shelia Whitefish (Jerry Ottertail) and her children Jonathan and Blair and Douglas Whitefish. She also leaves behind numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

A traditional wake will be held on Lac La Croix First Nation at the community gymnasium on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from noon. A traditional funeral ceremony will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 in Lac La Croix First Nation Gymnasium.
The pallbearers will be her family and friends.
