Mr. René DeGagne, of Foremost, Alta., passed away in the early hours of Monday, June 5, 2006 at the age of 59 years with his wife, Mona, his children, Regina, Lucas and wife, Lindy, and Rhien, along with childhood and longtime friends, Rick and Tyra Hammond, at his side.
Besides his two sons, Lucas (Lindy) DeGagne of Selkirk Man. and Rhien (Debi) DeGagne of Foremost, Alta., and one daughter, Regina DeGagne of Foremost, Alta., René also leaves to cherish his memory five grandchildren, Jeremie (Michelle) Kymanick, Matthew and Nicholas Kymanick, and Hailey and Christopher Gunn.
Also surviving are six brothers, Orielle (Pearl) DeGagne of Fort Frances, Ont., Felix (Elsie) DeGagne of Dryden, Ont., Emile (Bernice) DeGagne of Keewatin, Ont., Edmond (Claudette) DeGagne of Winnipeg, Man., and Yves (Kathy) DeGagne and Maurice (Patricia) DeGagne, both of Fort Frances, Ont.; four sisters, Lucille LaFleur of Winnipeg, Man., Lilian (Mike) Bodnar and Lorraine DeGagne, both of Fort Frances, Ont., and Laura (Ron) Tausendefrend of Devlin, Ont.; mother-in-law, M. Julia Reinson of Bow Island; special friend, Irma Gibson of Foremost, Alta.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
René was predeceased by his parents, Odilas and Valeda DeGagne; two brothers, Charles Etienne and Laurent; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; one niece; one nephew; and father-in-law, Robert Reinson.
René was born and raised in Fort Frances, where he resided most of his life.
Vigil rites (prayers) were said at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Foremost on Friday, June 9, 2006 at 7:30 p.m.
The funeral mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 2 p.m., with Fr. Jos Tom Kalathilparambi the celebrant.
