RAYMOND (RAY) JOSEPH ADAMS

Ray was born June 14, 1939 at Stanjikoming First Nation, Ont. to the late Casimir and Louise Adams. He had lived most of his life in Rainy River District.
Ray was a logger by trade and also had worked as the site manager of the Canadian Wilderness Floating Lodges. He enjoyed reading, fishing, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, and going to the casinos.
His family was most important to him and he loved his grandchildren dearly. He had a special relationship with Dr. Cam Moorhouse.
Ray was united in marriage Aug. 27, 1993 to the former Jackie Jourdain, who survives along with his children, Darlene Adams of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., Mary Lou Adams of Thunder Bay, Ont., Brian (Debbie) Adams of Saskatchewan, Diane Adams of Kenora, Ont., and Casimir (Yvonne) Adams of Couchiching First Nation, and their mother, Agnes Kabatay of Stanjikoming First Nation, Ont.; and Cameron Moyer, Trevor Moyer, and Sheldon Slatinski, all of Couchiching First Nation, Ont.
Also surviving are his stepchildren, Norma Peters of Toronto, Ont., Ron Peters of New York, Richard (Dina) White of Fort Frances, Ont., Toni White of Minneapolis, Mn., and Junior Moyer of Tower, Mn.; grandchildren, Jeffery Adams, Brenna Adams, Kaitlyn Adams-Lewis, Casha Adams, Chelsea Fox, Christopher Adams, Brianna Young, Brielle Young, Kierra Adams, Jade Morrison, Jordan Morrison, Ronald Dell, Mitchell Peters, Malcolm Peters, Quill Christy, Autumn Peters, Jordan White, Ava Gardiman, and Kayla Gardiman; numerous cousins and their families; as well as special friends, Pat Roach, Bill Fontana, and Chaz Perrault.
He was predeceased by his parents, Casimir and Louise Adams; aunt, Alice (Kokum) Perrault and her children, Gordie, Leona, and Margaret Perrault; and uncle, Leonard Adams.
A Service of Remembrance will be held Thursday, March 18 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Couchiching Bingo Palace, with Deacon Elmer Mainville officiating.
A wake will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2004 from 7 p.m. at the Couchiching Bingo Palace, with vigil prayers being held at 7:30 p.m.
The honourary pallbearers will be all of Ray’s family and friends.
At Ray’s request, cremation has taken place in Thunder Bay, Ont.
