It is with deep sorrow that the family of Ray Seguin announces his passing on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013 in Cranbrook, B.C. at age 78.
Ray was born March 13, 1935 in Potts Township, Ont. to Yvonne Marie Seguin.
He grew up on the farm, where he learned about hard work. The lessons he learned there served him well throughout his life.
From logger to tireman to heavy equipment mechanic to park ranger and everything in between, Ray was a jack-of-all-trades and a wonderful provider for his family, whom he loved more than life itself.
In 1957, Ray met and married Shelva Jean Coulson in Atikokan, Ont. Together they raised five children, but many more were made to feel the welcoming embrace of their home.
In 1979, Ray moved his family to Sparwood, B.C. and then to the Cranbrook area in 1993, where they lived until his passing.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Shelva; daughters, Charlene (Peter) Nelson and Debbie (Tim) Lyght; sons, Brian, Darryl (Stacy), and Justin (Kerri); grandchildren, Kris, Amanda (Tim), Rachel (Clive), Michael (Britany) Ryerson, Mason, Aiden, Kayla, Kiana, and Kinsey; and great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Owen, and Rohn.
He also leaves behind his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1301 Pondersosa Dr., in Sparwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that in memoriam donations be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon, Okanagan/Kootenays Area Office, #4, 1551 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, B.C., V1Y 9M9 or the Canadian Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 12013, Stn BRM B, Toronto, Ont., M7Y 2L3.
