September 8, 1943 – October 15, 2025
With profound sadness the family of Ray Bragg announce his passing on October 15, 2025 after a lengthy illness.
Ray was born in Emo, Ontario September 8th, 1943. He grew up in the Rainy River district on the homestead farm in Finland, ON. Throughout his younger years he moved back and forth from Manitoba to Ontario.
In 1968 he met the love of his life Evelyn in Winnipeg, Manitoba. There they started their family and ended up settling in Stratton with their 3 children in 1979.
Ray was an avid outdoorsman with a deep love of hunting, fishing and anything to do with the outdoors. He loved his time on his minnow trapping line. He also was a very skilled woodworking artist. He had a very creative flair with his crafts and carvings of moose horns. He travelled for many years to various craft shows in the district and beyond & loved the people he met along the way.
He may have grumbled while cooking at the Fish & Chips restaurant, but he secretly loved it. He could be heard in the back yelling “It’s Ready” and the fortunate guest would have a tasty meal en route.

Ray always had a special treat ready for his grandchildren when they were small and continued the tradition with his great grandchildren. He loved his entire family and was so proud of each of them.
He lovingly told Evelyn one day while looking around, We sure did a good job – look at all of them!
He was predeceased by his parents, Kate & Leo Bragg, infant daughter Laura and brothers Lionel & Bentley.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife Evelyn of 56 years. His son Darren (Denise) Bragg and daughters, Sue (Mark) Nagant & Janet (Jay) Kuiack.
Grandchildren Melissa, Jasmine, Caitlin (Karan), Corburn (Allison), Janelle (Ryan), Jarrod, Ryan, Hailey, Payton & Hayden and Great Grandchildren, Sophia, Grayson & Jackson.

His sister Evelyn (Ralph) Garand, nephews Linc, Randy, Jason and Steve, nieces Kelly & Khrysti.
He will greatly be missed by his dog Cheyenne and cats Trouble, Spook & Nala.
Thank you to the doctors & nurses at both Riverside & Rainy River hospital who took such good care of Ray. A special thank you to the ambulance attendants, Robert & Gloria who took great care and respect while helping get Ray to the hospital. Thank you to Jason Lilley and his team at Northridge for your kindness and patience during this difficult time.
As per Ray’s request, there will be no funeral service. The immediate family will have a celebration of life gathering in the spring/summer of 2026 when the poplar leaves start to sing in the wind.
