RALPH NORMAN ALLEN

Ralph Norman Allen, 75, of 25 Walker St., Emo, Ont., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. He was born April 29, 1925 in Emo to the late Thomas and Helen Allen.
Mr. Allen had farmed in the Devlin, Ont. area. In 1952, he moved to Harvey, Ill., where he did carpentry and construction work. In 1961, he moved back to this area, where he did bushwork for a short time.
He then began employment with the local paper mill and remained there until taking his early retirement.
Ralph is survived by his son, Larry and wife, Shirley, of Barwick, Ont.; and grandchildren, Shauna Allen of Emo, Ont., Trevor Allen and wife, Irina, of Sioux Narrows, Ont., Bryan Allen and wife, Elianne, of St. Anne, Man., and Cory Allen of Dryden, Ont.
Also surviving are brothers, Wallace Allen and wife, Gladys, of Emo, Ont., and Harold Allen of Thunder Bay, Ont.; sisters-in-law, Alice Allen of Dryden, Ont., Gladys and husband, Bruce Chambers, of Penticton, B.C., and Hazel VanDrunen of Mantino, Ill.; brothers-in-law, Hugh Fults of Indiana, and Zoltan Gfellner of Lakefield, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ralph was united in marriage Aug. 6, 1943 to the former Pearl Fults, who predeceased him May 21, 1993. He also was predeceased by his son, Tom Allen on July 21, 1991; granddaughter, Jolene on Jan. 12, 1975; brothers, Stan, Doug, Cecil, Len, and an infant brother; and sisters, Helen McLean, Blanche Cain, Elsie Stevens, May Gfellner, and an infant sister.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Knox United Church in Emo, with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date in the Emo Cemetery in Emo.
Pallbearers were Bill McLean, Bob McLean, Murnie Allen, Wayne Allen, Jack Allen, and Paul Olsen.
Honourary pallbearers were Ralph’s brothers, Wallace Allen and Harold Allen.
