Rachel Mae King, nee Vlotaros, passed away suddenly on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008 at the age of 37 as a result of a motor-vehicle accident near Wawa. Ont.
She is survived by her two sons, Jordan “Babes” and Dustin “Dugler” King; ex-husband, Quentin “Joe” King; companion, Shane Hayward; parents, Stanley and Dodie Vlotaros; brother, Stanley A. Vlotaros (Nicole) and family; “Swister,” Tina “George” Vlotaros and family; grandmother, Athena Vlotaros; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Born on June 13, 1971, Rachel attended high school at Fort William Collegiate in Thunder Bay, Ont., spent sometime at Lakehead University, and then acquired her AZ licence. She was employed for the last three years driving transport all over Canada and the United States.
Rachel had many interests. Her two sons were of primary importance in her life, and they both shared her love of animals, camping, fishing, and swimming. Rachel was a past member of Candy Mountain ski club, Alaskan Malamute Club of Canada, Thunder Bay Quarter Horse Club, City of Thunder Bay ringette all-star team,and Esso Canada swim team.
Her creativity and imagination were evident in everything that she did, but especially her artwork, photography, and landscaping.
Prayers will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008 between 6-8 p.m. at Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel (21 N. Court St.) in Thunder Bay.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the same location.
Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
