PHILLIP MITCHELL

Mitchell, Phil

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Phil “Flipper” Mitchell on Oct. 8, 2019.
Born on May 6, 1948 in Emo, Ont. to Adam and Ruth Mitchell, Phil has worked and lived most of his life in Emo.
Although he had many different jobs throughout his career his most favorite was being a grader operator for M.L Judson Trucking LTD.
Many a bush road was taken care of by Phil the best way he could. He sure didn’t like it when he had to let someone else do it! And heaven forbid should someone have to drive his grader besides him!
Phil’s passion was his work although he enjoyed spending time on the lake fishing or riding the back roads looking for that big buck.
Phil was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Ruth Mitchell; father and mother-in-law, Cliff and Francis Cunningham; brothers-in-law, Jim and Leroy Cunningham, and Barry Silander; nephew, Joey Benjamin; and “Uncle” Ray Whitford.
He leaves behind his wife, Karen; daughters, Kim Warkentin (Gary Carpenter), Vanessa Ward (Glenn), and Teddie Ann Hogan (Lee); adopted son, Bobby Steele and his family; and his side kick kitten, Scratch.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tori and Tatum Hebert, Kaya, Miley and Aivery Hogan, and Cole Carpenter to whom he loved and cherished with all his heart; sister, Grace Silander; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews; and of course all his friends and coffee buddies.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Oct. 19 2019 at the Northridge Funeral Home at 1 p.m. with a lunch to follow at Knox United Church in Emo.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Steele, Vayda Steele, Pat Steele, Morris Judson and Gary Silander
No flowers, please (mom is allergic).
If desired, memorial donations may be made in Phil’s memory to the charity of your choice, c/o Northridge Funeral Home, Box 89, Emo, ON P0W 1E0.
