PETER BASARABA

Peter Basaraba passed away peacefully at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010 after a brief illness.
Peter was born July 6, 1922, the youngest of nine children, to John and Katherine Basaraba near Roblin, Man.
Peter is survived by his wife, Polly; daughter, Patricia; son, Allan (Laurel); and three grandchildren, Matt, Kate, and Joe Basaraba; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Mary Urbanski, Polly Korman, Ann Welenchenko, Rose Beck, Jessie Turewich, Effie Tryhuk, and Helen Kitzul; and brother, John Basaraba.
Peter served in the navy during WWII.
He was a skilled carpenter, as well as an outdoorsman. Peter also loved flying his J3 Piper Cub to his trapline north of Atikokan.
He was a big supporter and proud fan of his grandchildren in their sports activities.
 The family invites you to join them in a celebration of Peter’s life on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. at the Fort Frances Volunteer Bureau, 140 Fourth St. W. (the old CN station).
