Paulette Marie Greenner, born June 22, 1943, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at home after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
She was predeceased by her parents, Valerien and Stella Gervais.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Sid Greenner; four brothers, Ronald (Sylvia) and Robert of London, Ont., Andre (Diane) of Burlington, Ont., and Paul Gervais of Timmins, Ont.; and two sisters, Marilyn Simpson of Courtenay, B.C. and Michelle Pladzyk of Timmins, Ont.
She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Polly dearly.
Paulette was born in Ansonville, Ont. and was employed at Ontario Hydro for 34 years.
She was an outdoors girl who loved hiking with the “Chicks with Sticks.” Her love of travel took her to all seven continents over the years, with the most thrilling being her Antarctic trip, taken with her husband just one year ago.
She was compassionate and spent her life mentoring those around her, leading by her positive example of faith in action..
She took great joy in being with others, and always made the most of time spent with family and friends.
In June, 2008, with her husband, she moved to her favourite place, the Comox Valley.
A mass of Christian burial took place Monday, March 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Courtenay, followed by a reception in the lower hall.
Cremation with burial is to take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ) Centre, 219 19th Ave. SW, Calgary Alta., T2S 0C8, or L’Arc Comox Valley or St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation Comox were her wish.
